James Wesley Gibson, II, commonly known as J.W., is a native Memphian. His early childhood was spent in the Dixie Homes housing development. He attended Memphis City Schools and upon graduation entered the U.S. Navy. J.W. later enrolled at Christian Brothers University where he began his matriculation in business management. He not only operates his business daily, but is also actively involved in other professional organizations and in the community. Some of his involvements include:
National Minority Medical Supply Association - Served as President of this minority business advocacy group representing companies across the United States and Puerto Rico.
Minority Input Committee - Served as Chairman of this advisory group to the Mid-South Minority Business Council (MMBC), which is comprised of local minority business presidents.
Healthcare Providers Focus Group - Conducted by J.W., this was designed to assist major hospitals in developing plans for increased spending with small businesses.
Partnership Program - A program of the MMBC to create mentor relationships between small and large businesses; and to foster development of personal relationships between the CEO's of both.
Civic Background - J.W. has been known to say, “I'm bullish on Memphis”. Early in life, he developed a dedication to Memphis and its citizens. His humble beginnings helped to shape a man with genuine concerns for all people and their well being. He recognized that Memphis is a fantastic city where good people can accomplish great things. J.W. knows this reality comes from long hours of concentrated efforts by dedicated persons with deliberate goals to improve the lot in life for all citizens. He generously gives of his resources in working with many social and civic agencies and is actively involved as indicated:
